Ever have a day like this? Up a tree without a ladder :) My dog Lexie chased Tabitha across the yard and the cat happened to pick a tree without large branches.
The more she tried to get secure the more the the branch drooped.
I brought her a ladder. There was NO WAY I was going to climb a ladder 20 feet up a tree and try to convince an 18 lb cat that it was ok to be picked up. She's pissy on a good day!
Her dignity was sorely hurt :) I haven't seen her since she climbed down. No dead mices for me for a couple days :)On a fantastic plus side...THE SUN IS OUT!! I don't know for how long but I'm going to enjoy it while it happens. I love the energy it gives me. I put my raspberries in the ground. I ended up with 32 plants. Not bad for free. For my berry garden I now have 32 raspberries, 50some strawberries, 2 marrionberries, and 4 blueberries and wild blackberries that survive no matter how often I try to kill them.
One the minus side I went to the Saturday market yesterday. It was the first day and I wanted to compare my starts to others. Mine suck. All the care, watering, feeding and nurturing...and they suck. Mine are at least a quarter of the size of the smallest starts. grrr. What am I doing wrong? And the prices..wow! They want 1.00 for strawberry shoots. Tomato plants were almost 4 bucks and a dozen eggs were 5 bucks. My sdad told me I need to start squeezing some eggs out my chickies butts when he saw that, says I could pay the mortgage. Yea, that's not going to happen until about august. I can't get their happy butts out of the damn coop. They come out in the morning but within a couple hours they think they are in for the day. While I was planting the raspberries and I would come across a big fat worm I would walk it over and try to bribe them out. Trouble was the only one to run out, slurp it up and head back in. I'm asking Grumpy or Ds to put in my nests today so maybe they'll head out because of all the noise. I have decided to look for a buff rooster. I'm going to do duel runs and houses, Marans and Buffs, although Leghorns are your best layer in our area. I'm going to put Mr and Mrs in another run when it gets closer to laying time. It's Sunday. I'm not going to get dressed and SOMEONE better cook brunch today. One of mine gave me a cold. If you're keeping count, that's a bug 5 weeks out of 7 this winter. I NEVER get sick and this is pissing me off. It's draining me and winter is a big enough drain. Bring on Summer!
