waiting.....

Today I spent the morning moving my moms stuff from storage unit 45 minutes away to her new place in my hometown. She's been with out her stuff for almost 2 years. She's a snowbird and let her apartment go fall of 2007. She spent last summer in Idaho caring for her sis-in-law, suffering from brain cancer (rip myrna), and wintered in Arizona again. This summer she wants a home base again. So, in her perfect world, I move her stuff into her new house, unpack it, make the bed, she rolls into town and relaxes for the summer. hmm. Did I ever mention that I have 2 YOUNGER sisters ;] On the plus side my younger sister has moms old house and didn't like the rasberry plants. Since I was in town I picked them up. 20 rasberry canes with sprouts for free! I already picked up 2 marrionberry and rubarb plants yesterday when I bought my potato seeds. If all goes well I will have about 50 potato plants...plenty to can like this. I will probably get another batch to stagger for eating. Tomorrow I will gather all my 5 gallon buckets and let the rain wash them out. I think it's late enough in the year that I can plant them, put them in the greenhouse and bring them out to the garden when we plant the 'sow directly's'. I love to plant my potatoes in the buckets because harvest is a breeze. Dump the buckets out in a pile, gather the potatoes and reuse the dirt for next year. Simple. We had a terrible wind and rain storm today...I WANT TO PLANT!! Will it ever dry out?
